Frequently Asked Questions

eCheck and Credit Cards

As soon as you make your eCheck payment, it is submitted, and it is then up to your bank as to when they choose to process the payment. Some banks will process them the same day, and some may take 1-3 business days. RentPayEasy.com cannot control the amount of time it takes for your bank to process your payment once you have initiated it. eCheck payments can take up to 5-7 business days to be fully deposited into your property manager’s account, much like a paper check, and your bank will almost always choose to withdraw the funds from your account before your property manager’s bank acknowledges receipt of them. If it’s been much longer than 5-7 business days, please get in touch with us and we will take a look.

Nope! Any checking account will do. Please make sure, however, that you have not told your bank to disallow ACH debits or credits (deposits) from and to your account. If you have, you’ll need to talk to them before you begin the setup process.

At this time, Instant Verification supports:

  • Bank of America
  • Capital One 360
  • Charles Schwab
  • Chase
  • Citi
  • Fidelity
  • Navy Federal Credit Union
  • PNC
  • SunTrust
  • TD Bank
  • US Bank
  • USAA
  • Wells Fargo

Unfortunately, no. Due to the age of the ACH network, through which eChecks are processed, we cannot guarantee that your payment is complete until it is withdrawn from your bank. However, if you have enough money in your account to cover your payment until it clears, you can be virtually certain at the time you get your receipt that it will go through.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, JCB, and Diners Club.

We don’t take American Express at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Credit card payments are confirmed immediately and should take no more than 24 hours to appear on your credit card account.

Payments made to any of our supported properties via our service appear on credit card and bank statements as “RENTPAYEASY” or “RENTPAYEASY.COM”. If you or someone authorized to use your card rent an apartment, condo, or townhome, click over to our Residents page to see if your property is listed. If it is, you or someone authorized to use your card may have made an online payment to a property manager.

If you are not a renter, do not see your property listed, or have any other concerns, please contact us immediately at (334) 539-5780 before contacting your card issuer or bank. We will work directly with you to locate the source of the charge and resolve any issues surrounding it.

Please note that RentPayEasy.com cannot issue refunds in the event of a contractual or other dispute with a property manager – however, we will gladly put you in touch with the right individual at the property and help as best we can to find a resolution.

Paying & Accounts

No matter when your payment clears the bank, the time you clicked Pay Now on the payment form is recorded by our system. This shows you paid your rent, in good faith, on time – and your property manager will have record of it.

You can pay from your smartphone, tablet, or computer any time, 24 hours per day.

RentPayEasy.com does charge a small fee. The fee for payment by eCheck is only $1.00, and around 3% for credit card payments. If cost is a concern, we highly recommend eCheck.

You can pay by credit card without signing up or logging in, but you do need an account to pay by eCheck. We recommend all customers sign up – our Payment History feature allows you to see all payments, credit card or eCheck, you’ve made while logged in.

Passwords have really changed over the years. What was previously thought to be a secure password, like N1l5ecurity! or jal43#Koo%a, is hard for a human to remember, but easy for a computer to break. Worse still are passwords that are patterns or common phrases, like 12345678, qwerty, wareagle1, rolltideroll, or (worst of all) password.

Modern password cracking algorithms know all the tricks used in the past, like letter substitution (Pa$$w0rd) and adding numbers (sarahsmith1),. Nowadays, you have two options to choose a secure password: try a passphrase or use a password manager, an app on your PC and/or phone that remembers your passwords so you don’t have to, generates them for you., and can even auto-type/auto-fill them for you. Some popular password managers include KeePass, LastPass, 1Password, and Dashlane.

If you don’t want to use a password manager, use a passphrase. A passphrase can be any string of words with spaces in between, like false zebra paint seven – the more random the better. To make it even better, just add some numbers, capital letters, and/or symbols – false Zebra 48 paint Seven!.

You should avoid:

  • Reusing passwords across sites. This is very important, because if one gets compromised, an attacker could unlock everything you do online, including your finances.
  • Common phrases like song lyrics or anything published, because these are easy for computers to guess.
  • Using personal information. If it can be found on Google or your Facebook, you shouldn’t use it in a password.

Here at RentPayEasy.com, we really care about good passwords. We want your account to be as secure as it possibly can be; that starts and ends with a good password. The password strength rating we use was developed by extremely smart people, and we hope it helps you pick a great password that will keep your money safe.

At this time, we do not allow credit cards to be saved. If you are interested in this feature, please let us know.

In general, we cannot offer issues of any kind or amount, because we send your payments directly to your property manager. However, should you accidentally make a double payment, or pay the wrong property, please contact us immediately. In general, if you notify us within minutes or hours of such an accidental payment, we can issue a reversal, which prevents the charge from hitting your credit/debit card at all. Note that this applies to card payments only. Due to the nature of the ACH system, we cannot stop nor refund eCheck payments once they have been ordered by you.

If you require a refund for any other reason, including mistaken eCheck payments, please contact your property manager. They will likely issue a refund by check. Convenience fees, for both credit card and eCheck, are nonrefundable. Neither RentPayEasy.com nor your property manager can return these to you.
